Eurocup round 2 involved a short flight out to Stockholm and a further flight onto Luleå airport in northern Sweden. With 24hours of day light, a sweet world class wave and some beautiful grade IV rapids within earshot of the campsite an awesome trip unfolded.
Checking out the rapids

The boater cross was held on Thursday, where you have to navigate a short section of grade III rapids and the fastest person wins. Jon and I did not compete as we could not fly with our creek boats. On Friday the team down river race took place, where teams of 3-4 kayakers race downstream in the shortest time. Watching was exciting as people took the wrong lines down the huge slide and boofed straight into each other causing carnage in the large hole at the finish line.

The final drop to the finish

The freestyle Eurocup was to take place on the Palt wave on the Pite River. A consistent wave provided a good training site and some awesome competition rides. The results can be found at www.whitewaterchallenge.se

After along day on the river, heats, semi finals and Finals all packed into12hours everyone let loose with a late dinner, sauna and a huge Swedish party!

The Pite River offered some awesome rapids, some harder technical lines along with some easier safer routes. All sections were easy to scout and provide safety cover from. Along the way is an Autoboof, a 3meter drop to huck in style and at the bottom of the river is a 100meter rock slide.
